For over 20 years Master Robert has traveled the world demonstrating and teaching the
disappearing art of Glass Blowing. He has produced spun glass creations for members
of the British Royal Family, the British Ambassador on the Island of Malta and stars and
celebrities around the world. Now resident here in the USA (Las Vegas) Robert is to offer
classes in torch work to a limited number of students.Classes will be offered at both
basic and advanced levels. Students will be taught one on one, 5 evenings a week initially.
Bookings will open May 1st. and classes will commence at the end of May 2010.

Courses will extend over a 4 week period and comprise 12 sessions. Each class will be of one and a half hour duration, Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 5pm and 6.30pm. Students may elect to take up to three classes per week; however where practical students may request to take fewer classes and spread their training over a longer period than the recommended 4 weeks. The school will be dark Tuesday and Wednesday. The basic class will teach spun glass torch work and an average student will be competent to create saleable pieces of spun glass and jewelry at the end of their 12 session course. The advance class will teach basic glass blowing techniques enabling students to produce a number of 'blown items' including vases and hollow swans - Master Roberts’s signature piece!Students must complete the basic course before proceeding to the advanced level.All students attend a 2 hour introductory lecture which includes "The History of Glass" presented by Studio Royal's Art Director, Dr. Peter J. Shield PhD;"Safety First", Master Craftsman Robert Shield introduces students to the necessary safety precautions and procedures that every student must learn and obey. Robert will demonstrate the "Tools of the Trade" and the session will conclude with a demonstration by Master Robert during which he will create each of the pieces that students will learn to create during their 4 week course.Once a month an open house event will offer intending students and interested guests the opportunity to attend a free lecture and demonstration.
